The owner has a degree in Environmental Science/Ecosystems and has a deep understanding of the principals behind Green Building. We focus on creating beautiful, comfortable, and functional spaces while reducing the negative effects on the environment.

Water is a big concern in Portland, and understanding how it enters and moves through your property is important. We offer downspout disconnections and use Raingardens, Drywells, and Swales to effectively deal with and utilize water. We also encourage the shrinking of impervious surfaces and wasteful lawns, favoring alternatives to these instead.

The choice of plants can also have a big impact on the ecosystem. We focus on establishing Drought Tolerant, Native, and Edible plantings and lawns, as well as installing plants that are useful for both people and wildlife. We don’t use harmful chemicals, pesticides, or herbicides. We build the soil from the bottom up. Incorporating organic amendments and using alternative weed control methods such as Sheet Mulching.

We also work with you to find the best choices in materials; focusing on recycled, reclaimed and salvaged materials. We offer FSC certified and Sustainably Harvested wood.
